What does the Concealed Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals class cover?
A 7-hour total class covering conflict avoidance, situational awareness, legal use of deadly force, handgun types and ammunition, Michigan firearm laws, safety and storage, concealed carry regulations, home defense basics, and gear selection. This satisfies Michigan's Part I requirement for concealed pistol license certification.
Does this class satisfy Michigan's CPL requirement?
Yes. The Concealed Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals class satisfies Michigan's Part I requirement for concealed pistol license certification. Part II (range training) is scheduled separately with the instructor.
Do I need any prior firearms experience?
No prior experience required. Our courses are designed for students of every level, from absolute beginners to experienced carriers. Our instructors meet you where you are.
What should I bring to class?
Specific class requirements (firearm, ammunition, eye and ear protection, holster, etc.) are provided when you enroll. If you do not own a firearm yet, contact us before the class so we can help you make appropriate arrangements.
Can I take fundamentals before deciding to get a CPL?
Absolutely. Many of our students take Introduction to Handgun, Defensive Shooting Fundamentals, or Firearms & Child Safety without ever pursuing a CPL. The training is valuable for anyone who owns or may own a firearm at home.
